Martial Arts Uniforms

Martial Arts uniforms (often referred to as a “Gi” or “Dobok” depending on the discipline) are traditional, heavy-duty garments designed specifically for combat sports practice, grading, and competitions. Unlike everyday athletic wear, these uniforms are built to withstand immense pulling, gripping, and high-impact friction without tearing.

The classic martial arts uniform consists of three main components: a wrap-around jacket, drawstring pants, and a colored ranking belt.

Key Features & Design

  • Reinforced Stress Points: Designed with heavy-duty multi-row stitching along the cuffs, lapels, collar, and side vents. This prevents the fabric from ripping when an opponent grabs or pulls the uniform during judo throws or jiu-jitsu sparring.

  • Gusseted Pants for Mobility: The pants feature a roomy, loose-fitting cut with a reinforced diamond-shaped gusset (extra fabric panel) in the crotch area. This layout gives practitioners the freedom to execute deep stances, high kicks, and splits without any fabric restriction.

  • Stiffened Padded Collar: The jacket collar is thick and heavily stitched, making it durable for choke defenses while helping the jacket hold its shape during formal presentations and katas (form practice).
